Abstract

The article is based on published materials and shows the contribution of such educators and public persons as L. Lopatynskyi, K. Yanovskyi, M. Hulak, O. Stoyanov, O. Italinskyi, P. Yurchenko and others into ethnologic Caucasian studies. The author analyses sources, novelty and value of scientific evidences of their materials and researches of traditional culture, everyday life and ethnic origins of Caucasian nations. The article also shows how the above scientists organized regional studies among educators: they developed methodological documents (guides, special programs), encouraged collecting and editing of folklore materials, formed ethnographic professional elite. The research defines the role of graduates of Ukrainian universities in founding and editing of “Collected materials for description of Caucasus countries and tribes”, popularization of national and foreign ethnological heritage, preserving spiritual and material monuments of ethnoses living there.
