Abstract

In the monograph of O. Sereda, for the first time in historiography, translations of Ottoman-Turkish documents that reveal important issues of common Ukrainian-Turkish history are proposed. The author shared the analysis of the documents into three important blocks: “Ochakiv Vilayet in the Crimean-Ottoman Space”, “Ukrainian-Cossack Black Sea Region for Ottoman rule”, “Khanska Ukraine” or “Mukataa Tombasar” (end of 17–18 century). The text of the scientific publication addresses the issues of administrative management of Ukrainian territories under the Ottoman rule, in particular the role in the economic life of the Odessa-Khodzhibay region, the question of financing of the Swedish King Charles XII and the Ukrainian hetman Ivan Mazepa by the Ottoman government in Bender in 1709, were discovered for the first time. The formation of a specific historical and geographical region “Khanska Ukraine” is described.
