Abstract

The article is about the international scientific expedition under the direction of the Japanese National Museum of Ethnology (Minpaku) to Todja District of the Republic Tuva that took place in the summer of 2012. The author investigates features of the way of life of the reindeer breeders, their status, social and economic situation, crisis in reindeer breeding, creation of tribal communities, poaching problems and Chinese expansion.
